Inside the 'quick unravel' of Meghan and Harry's show as the secret of the dinner party is revealed

Meghan Markle has reportedly been advised against legal action over a damning new book, as its author provides more insight into what she calls the “decoding” of the so-called Harry and Meghan show.

Royal biographer Tom Bower makes a series of claims in his book – Revenge: Meghan, Harry and the War Between the Windsors – and he appears on Channel 7’s Sunrise on Tuesday to reveal a new secret.

Bower doesn’t hold back in the illegitimate biography, where he says he interviewed more than 80 sources.

The author claims it is difficult to speak to people who view the Duchess of Sussex in a positive light.

Bower spoke with Sunrise hosts David “Kochie” Koch and Natalie Barr on Tuesday, and was asked questions he wouldn’t normally come across.

Does she have anything nice to say about Meghan Markle?

“I think she is an ambitious and successful woman in her own right, I think she can be good if she wants to,” says the author from the UK.

“He’s smart, he’s sassy, I think he’s one of those people you take with a pinch of salt.

“Sometimes he can be nice … depending on how he wants to behave.”

Bower said that, while researching the book, he had spoken to people who worked at Meghan’s Suits event, his schoolmates and London friends.

While friends of the royals painted him positively, the author said his “victim” told “a different story about him than he would like to publish”.

Barr asked the author why attitudes towards Meghan are different now from when she married Prince Harry in 2018.

“She voluntarily came to England and married into the Royal Family and she definitely knows what it takes,” the author told Sunrise.

“He has to be part of the team and support the Queen and play her part.

“And all he does is complain because he wants to be in the spotlight, he wants to be number one.

“He wants to turn the royal family into a Hollywood celebrity game.”

Bower said he believes Meghan never wanted to live in the UK.

“I think he wanted a title, he wanted fame, and then he came back to California,” Sunrise said.

“It was really because of that, and because he allegedly bullied a lot of his staff, he made them very unhappy,” he claims.

Bower also accused Meghan of “turning Harry against his family and Harry is the most popular of all royals, apart from the Queen”.

“Overall (he) did what Meghan wanted, and not what the royal family expected … and things quickly unraveled,” she said.

“And it didn’t unravel because she wasn’t helped, it didn’t unravel because of racism, it didn’t unravel because Meghan didn’t get what she wanted, which was the spotlight on her.”

Bower also makes other interesting accusations in his book, including that Meghan made Kate Middleton cry before Meghan’s wedding in 2018 – contradicting what Meghan said in her Oprah interview.

He said the Queen was relieved when Meghan did not attend Prince Phillip’s funeral in April 2021.

Another claim she has made is that Meghan suspects Victoria Beckham of leaking the story to the media.

‘Damn crazy’

Meanwhile, British publication Express has reported that Bower claimed in the book that Prince Harry’s friends from Eton thought he was “crazy” for dating Meghan.

Over a weekend of “shooting” the couple joined Harry’s 16 friends for dinner on Friday.

Bower claims in the book, like any other weekend, “Harry looks forward to endless banter, jokes – and lots of drinking.”

The jokes involved “sexism, feminism and transgender people”, and “Meghan challenges any guest whose conversations conflict with her values”, Bower wrote.

“‘He has no sense of humour,” she wrote.

“On the way home after Sunday lunch, texts read between the cars: ‘OMG, what about HIM?’ said one. ‘Harry must be crazy’.”
