Teen thrills and Olympic superstars set to lead a golden attack on Birmingham

This time last year, most Australians stayed at home, perhaps taking solace in the performance of the Australian swimming team, which took home multiple gold medals from the Tokyo Olympics. This year, we can expect more as the Dolphins face the best swimmer at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. The team had successfully won the world championship in Budapest in June and stayed together for training camp in France before starting their assault on the Birmingham pool. Once again, the team will be led by a group of extraordinary women who have taken the world by storm: Emma McKeon, Ariarne Titmus and Kaylee McKeown will be joined by Australia’s newest teen swimming superstar, Mollie O’Callaghan. Australian women have posted the fastest Commonwealth times this year in 12 of the 16 races at the Birmingham programme, and that doesn’t take into account McKeon, who has taken a lot of time off this year but will return for the Olympics. Even so, head coach Rohan Taylor is reluctant to make p

This Is It: The Strokes main Splendor set is anything but sloppy - triple j

If you believe recent overseas reports, it appears that it was the bumpy road The Strokes have taken to Splendor In The Grass that hit the spotlight on Saturday night. Earlier this month, it was hard to ignore the headlines about frontman Julian Casablancas. “worrying” “behavior and” “an insult to the crowd” at international festivals. Some even speculated if they wanted “witnessed the end of The Strokes” in TRNSMT Scotland. This sparked concerns over whether The Strokes – which have claimed to be on the verge of exploding for years – would even make it Down Under. Or maybe indulge the Splendor crowd with some weird banter, a loose cover, or something more spicy. This kind of drama is often an ingredient in era-defining band stories. But as is often the case, the rumors of their deaths were exaggerated. The Strokes are here, and in short, they sound really great. From the jump, the instantly recognizable five-part sound was as crisp as ever, showing no signs of touring wear. They

Executive producer Jason Herbison said he felt a huge responsibility to create an ending that made the show and its fans fair. Herbison briefly entertains all sorts of crazy possibilities – alien invasion, bomb explosion, this-all-just-dream cheat – to get it all done. “I’ve always wanted to make a sinkhole,” he admitted, “but Home and Go go and do one, which is a little annoying.” However, in the end, he realized what he felt the most was a sense of responsibility. “I love this show, it was my favorite when I was a teenager, and I have a really long history with it. So I really feel a responsibility to end it in a way that respects the show and our audience. “Yes, it is a TV show, but some people have watched it for 37 years. It’s a huge thing to welcome people into your living room for 37 years when there’s so much more you can do with your time.” Stefan Dennis was there on day one, when the show was Seven’s property (they cut it before the year ended, and the following year, 19

Kate Ritchie couldn’t wipe the smile off her face when she arrived on the set of Australia’s Got Talent in Sydney last month accompanied by a male friend. The former Home and Away star, 43, who was heartbroken when his marriage to ex-NRL player Stuart Webb fell apart in 2019, looked particularly cheerful with Joel Caffery, who is the casting and talent manager for AGT. While nothing suggests the pair more than friends, it’s clear from his jovial demeanor that Joel is helping Kate find her groove again after a few difficult years.
