Australia's seven women's rugby team took a long time to reach gold

It might be 6am on the Gold Coast, but champagne was already popping up in Levi’s household. We’ve achieved a Commonwealth Games medal, not many people can do that in their lives, let alone have their sister next to each other.” [ Maddi Levi had a great tournament for the Australians. What caused crypto to crash this time (in five charts) and will it last?

Some systems link lenders to borrowers, and depending on how much demand is on both sides, calculate the ‘interest rate’ for the investor tipping the money. These are called “automated lending protocols,” and the biggest ones were Aave, Maker and Compound, which fell 65 percent, 59 percent, and 72 percent, respectively. DeFi also offers “automated market makers” or decentralized exchanges, which automatically connect buyers and sellers and also provide liquidity to the market. The biggest ones are Uniswap, Curve and PancakeSwap which are down 60 percent, 78 percent and 67 percent respectively since January 1. Australia’s DeFi projects include Synthetix, which is down 38 percent, Maple Finance, which is down 14 percent. . While token prices are the most obvious way to track the performance of a DeFi project, the results show how much demand there is for the system. For example, if many people want to lend their money, the yield is high. When people don’t want to lend it, the yield is

This Record-Breaking 'Black Widow' Pulsar Is The Biggest Neutron Star Ever

One of the most extreme stars in the Milky Way has just gotten even weirder. Scientists have measured the mass of a neutron star named PSR J0952-0607, and found that it is the most massive neutron star ever discovered, registering 2.35 times the mass of the Sun. If true, this is very close to the theorized upper mass limit of about 2.3 solar masses for neutron stars, which is an excellent laboratory for studying these ultra-dense stars at what we think are on the verge of collapse, in hopes of better understanding. strange quantum states of the matter they are made of. “We know roughly how matter behaves at nuclear densities, such as in the nuclei of uranium atoms,” said astrophysicist Alex Filippenko of the University of California, Berkeley. “A neutron star is like one giant core, but when you have one and a half solar masses of this material, which is about 500,000 Earth masses of cores all stuck together, it’s not at all clear how they’re going to behave.” Neutron stars are the col

'This is so cool': There's never been a better time to get a job on the go

Ashley Hodak has seized the opportunity to pursue a career as a flight attendant amid a job boom in the travel industry. Photo: Brook Mitchell Ashley Hodak’s new career is about to begin. The 27-year-old former child care and administrative worker recently completed a five-and-a-half-week flight attendant training program with Virgin Australia. Next week he will join his fellow cabin crew for his first flight from Sydney, bound for Hamilton Island. “I am so excited!” he says. Now I really like it, and how the days will come. be very different. It’s really cool getting paid to travel and be a part of people’s vacations.” If you’ve ever dreamed of a career in the travel industry, there’s neve

AI Just Found Alternative Physics Independently

Image
Pick up any physics textbook and you’ll find formula after formula that explains how things sway, fly, turn, and stop. The formula describes actions that we can observe, but behind each can be a series of factors that are not immediately apparent. Now, a new AI program developed by researchers at Columbia University appears to have found its own alternative physics. After being shown videos of physical phenomena on Earth, AI did not rediscover the current variables we used; instead, it actually comes up with a new variable to explain what it sees. To be clear, this does not mean that our current physics is flawed or that there is a more suitable model to explain the world around us. (Einstein’s laws have proven to be very powerful.) But they can only exist because they are built on a pre-existing ‘language’ of theories and principles established by centuries of tradition. Given an alternate timeline where other minds tackle the same problem from a slightly different perspective, wou

A spectacle of three meteors will grace our skies this weekend

Image
Looking for something spectacular to brighten up a cold, dark winter night? Well, this weekend might just have something in store: not one, not two, but three meteor showers active at the same time—combining to provide a celestial fireworks display for most of the night. While the best nights to watch are Saturday evening, July 30, until dawn on Sunday morning, all three rains will be nearing their peak levels starting tonight. So you’ll have plenty of opportunities to catch the show while avoiding bad weather or other commitments. Best of all, there will be a new moon, which means there won’t be a lot of glare ruining the show. What is a meteor shower? The solar system is full of debris left behind from the formation of the planets more than 4.5 billion years ago. Some of this debris – comets and asteroids – move in orbits that cross Earth’s path around the sun. Every time those comets and asteroids swing toward the sun, they release debris. For hundreds or thousands of years, thei

'Meta has a problem': Facebook parent company posts financial loss for the first time

Image
Facebook and Instagram’s parent company, Meta, has posted its first-ever revenue decline, dragged down by a drop in ad spending as the economy falters, and increased competition from rival TikTok. Key points: Global instability, slowdown in the ad market, and competition from TikTok contributed to the losses Meta has drawn high profile criticism over platforms like Instagram as users turn to video Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg, driver of Meta’s advertising business, is leaving the company Meta shares fell just slightly after the results, indicating Wall Street was mostly expecting a weak earnings report. The company’s total revenue, which consists almost entirely of advertising sales, fell 1 percent to $US28.82 billion ($41.1 billion) in the June quarter, nearly half a billion from a year ago. The results follow broader declines in rival digital advertising markets such as Snap and Alphabet, Google’s parent company, which reported their slowest quarterly growth in two years.

The AFL recognizes Ginnivan deserves a high free contact; triple-premiership Tiger call time; Stanley is absent

Amid claims that Ginnivan was targeted because of his low tackle technique, Collingwood president Jeff Browne said the club had sought clarification from the AFL. Load “I think the referee can go in your favor, and against you,” Browne told 3AW. “I know what you mean and it must have been on my mind. We need to clarify this with the referee, there is no question about that. “I don’t know if it was personal, but it was, obviously, a directive and in certain cases it was implemented incorrectly. We need to talk about that.” Ginnivan hasn’t dropped his body yet but still finds himself blocked by Redman. The club’s move came as a league crackdown emerged in the 19th round leading to a low season – outside of the byes – for a high free-kick. Ginnivan has been awarded the highest free-kick this season (17), two ahead of Geelong captain Joel Selwood. But he hasn’t received one over the past two weeks, initially coinciding with a larger public debate about his tactics, and this weekend aft
