With more farms getting the 'sustainable' label, do the labels really matter?

Image
Demand for food-bearing labels like ‘organic’ or ‘sustainable’ is soaring, but some growers question whether the name is really worth the pain. While some industry groups say that labels help consumers make choices, and getting the right credentials can offer manufacturers a valuable point of difference, others worry that the labels present a barrier to those wishing to adopt some of the practices associated with them. Consumers push the urge, but when they buy organic, natural, regenerative or conventional agricultural products, do they really know what that means? Stay out of the label box Labels such as “certified organic” require farmers to meet certain production standards, which can limit chemical use and regulate farm management. BIG flight backlog hits travelers after airport chaos

Image
Perth Airport is in chaos after desperately trying to recover from a total blackout due to a severe storm that criss-crossed the State. While the backup power for the critical runway was turned on, the terminal went into chaos as the backup power failed to turn on. Chief executive Kevin Brown said a review would begin soon to understand why parts of t...

The new fuel will have a maximum sulfur content of 10 parts per million, down from the current standard of 50ppm for premium unleaded and 150ppm for regular unleaded. As previously reported by Drive Europe mandated 10ppm unleaded in January 2009 and Australia’s fuel quality ...
