Gilchrist: 'Commercial suicide' for Australian Cricket if Warner & Co skips BBL for other T20 leagues

Adam Gilchrist believes it would be “commercial suicide” for Cricket Australia to allow their contracted players to play in the UAE or South Africa T20 Leagues that will clash with the BBL in January. Speaking on SEN Radio on Wednesday, Gilchrist was discussing a report on Australian who said David Warner was seeking an exemption from CA to play in the UAE league in January. Warner is contracted to CA, but Australia had no international cricket in the final three weeks of January following the completion of a three-Test series with South Africa on January 8. “It’s a big kicker, no, maybe a step towards being signed to a club before or over a country for the main amount of cricket you play,” Gilchrist said. “I think it’s almost commercial suicide for them to let a player like him go head-to-head with their own competitors. “They can’t force David Warner to play in the BBL. Inspiring burn victim Turia Pitt recalls the horrific moments she nearly killed herself during the early stages of her recovery. In 2011, the 34-year-old mining engineer survived the odds after getting caught in a bushfire while competing in an ultramarathon in Western Australia, but suffered horrific burns on 64 per cent of his body. Opening up about the aftermath of the tragedy 11 years later, the mother-of-two said she ‘wanted to die’ during the early stages of her hospitalization. Inspiring burn victim Turia Pitt recalls the horrific moments she nearly killed herself during the early stages of her recovery. Speaking to Jess Rowe on her podcast The Big Talk Show, Turia explained that she and her father were “very logical and practical” by nature, and she told him she wanted to die because “she would know where she came from”. ‘I said, ‘I want to kill myself, I don’t want to be here” he recalls. ‘And my dad said, ‘well the doctors say you’ll be back on your feet in five years.
