Channel 9 'Pest to the stars' claims Peter Hitchener married her - just as Rhonda Burchmore called the cops

A famous celebrity hunter suspected of being involved in a bad opening night clash with entertainer Rhonda Burchmore has bizarrely claimed she is married to beloved Melbourne news anchor Peter Hitchener.

Kodei James Mulcahy, 22, of Werribee, is scheduled to appear before the Werribee Magistrates’ Court on 26 unrelated charges of stalking and assault next month.

Daily Mail Australia can reveal Mulcahy has been chasing celebrities since he was a child.

As a teenager, she was embroiled in a scandal involving the theft of a $25,000 Logies dress from Real Housewives Of Melbourne star Gamble Breaux.

The 32-year-old Lake Manor man Mulcahy knew was eventually indicted for the crime.

Daily Mail Australia can reveal Burchmore had reported Mulcahy to police after meeting him last Thursday night at the Melbourne Arts Centre.

Burchmore had been attending the premiere of 9 To 5 The Musical with her husband when Mulcahy allegedly approached her outside the venue.

Daily Mail Australia have been told Mulcahy left with his tail between his legs after Burchmore told him to leave him alone.

Mulcahy claimed to have been friends with the theater star to this day.

He hit Instagram, where he has a following of just 616 people, to accuse Burchmore of being the aggressor.

He next took aim at a Herald Sun reporter, who was talking to Burchmore as he approached.

“There’s a full story that you stand there and watch and let someone attack someone,” he claimed via social media.

Mulcahy followed up on Tuesday night with an incredible rant that marked Burchmore’s own daughter – journalist Lexie Jeuniewic.

Burchmore, who will appear next month in the Tony Award-winning Broadway production of Hairspray, told Daily Mail Australia that he had reported Mulcahy to Victoria Police about the ugly confrontation.

“I am very upset about this matter and have made a police report on Sunday. I have left the matter in their hands now and hopefully this will stop this absolute psychopath,” he said.

A Channel Nine insider told Daily Mail Australia that Mulcahy’s claims about Hitchener were completely false.

“They are a figment of his imagination,” the source said.

In a post that has now been deleted, Mulcahy again claimed that he and the news anchor were married.

“Just an update that Peter and I have been married and divorced,” he said.

Mulcahy has been claiming for months that he is married to Hitchener, who came out as gay in 2008.

The anchorman has been candid about his sexuality in recent years, telling the Herald Sun in 2018 that he’s not opposed to settling down one day.

‘That might happen. I just went along. My partner has become my job. I’m not sure if it’s to make up for the less busy things in my life!’ he says.

Earlier this year, Mulcahy, who uses Hitchener code on Instagram, shared an image of Hitchener’s Wikipedia page, which at the time had been edited to state that Hitchener had married her on April 18, 2019.

It was the same day that one of Melbourne’s most notorious wife killers – Borce Ristevski – was sentenced to nine years in prison, which Hitchener covered on television that very evening.

“The couple was spotted at several events around Melbourne before officially announcing that they were married,” says the Wikipedia entry about their supposed relationship.

News of the fake marriage was emailed to newsrooms across the country on April 20 this year where a tipster calling himself Jack Apple claimed Mulcahy could be photographed at a comedy show.

Mulcahy has shared at least three pictures of himself with Hitchener: two during a studio tour and another apparently taken outside Her Majesty’s Theater in Melbourne during a group shoot that cut Hitchener’s body in half.

Her deleted Instagram post again claimed that she had been friends with Burchmore for years.

‘I have been friends with Rhonda for over 5 years now 2 weeks ago she blocked me only on Instagram because I posted a birthday message for her sister who sadly went through (sic) in 2015’ she wrote.

Mulcahy doubled down on his Insta claims in a 20-minute video posted on Wednesday – much of which Daily Mail Australia was unable to report for legal reasons.

Mulcahy, who is running for Wyndham Council in 2020, told Daily Mail Australia that he was unable to talk about his marriage to Hitchener after making a deal with Channel Nine not to do so.

“I defend what I post on my Instagram,” he said.

Mulcahy said he was not aware of pending matters being registered with Werribee Magistrates Court next month.

“I have no knowledge of that,” he said.

Mulcahy rejects the notion that he is a celebrity pest.

‘If celebrities are afraid of me and I’m a stalker, why do people contact me to help them with their social media pages?’ he says.

‘I have constant contact with many celebrities. I didn’t go along and stalk them. I was invited to a show just like them.’

Mulcahy said he was not involved in the theft of the Logies Gamble Breaux gown.

‘I’m not involved in it. The housewives got together and said it was because I wanted to buy it, but there was no evidence and I wasn’t charged or anything and I wasn’t taken to court for that,” she said.

Mulcahy insisted he had reported Burchmore to police for his version of last Thursday’s incident.
