Beyonce's fan reaction to Diane Warren apparently overshadowing the singer for using 24 songwriters

While many Beyonce fans have enjoyed her new album Renaissance – her first since 2016’s Lemonade – some have defended her from some of the shadows cast by Oscar-nominated songwriter Diane Warren.

The 65-year-old Warren took to Twitter on Monday, asking, ‘How can there be 24 writers on a song?’ with rolling eyes emoji.

The tweet – which appeared to refer to Beyonce’s song Alien Superstar – was not well received by BeyHive, with fans lashing out at her for everything from her age to not knowing how the sample worked.

Her tweet – posted Monday morning – seemed to explode right away, infuriating fans who thought she was sending shadows down Beyonce’s path.

Warren tried to diffuse the idea by tweeting 15 minutes later, ‘This is not meant to be a shadow, I was just curious.’

About 20 minutes later, he seems to have figured it out, tweeting, ‘Ok, sample prob that adds author count.’

That still didn’t stop a number of fans from getting in the way, including Twitter user Lisa McGuire, who said, ‘sampling and lots of interpolation! I’m a music supervisor and explain sometimes.’

Another Twitter user named Dylan asked, ‘How was your experience in gaming for 80 years and not knowing how samples work?’ Warren replied, ‘Because I don’t use it.’

Twitter user TaylorBold added, ‘In the same way you have 13 nominations and no wins,’ along with a photo of her 13 Oscar nominations.

It started a short conversation, during which Warren joked, ‘But I have 13 more nominations than U’ while another fan, J, added, ‘Exactly, nominations. Always the bridesmaid, never the bride.’

Warren asked, ‘How much did you get?’ when J replied, ‘Same win as you, xoxo.’

Another recording artist, The-Dream, explained, ‘You mean how our (Black) culture has so many writers, well it started because we couldn’t afford certain things to start with, So we started sampling and it became Artform, a a major part of Black Culture (hip hop) in America. If that era didn’t happen, who knows. you’re good?’

Nominations: That started a brief exchange, during which Warren joked, ‘But I have 13 more nominations than U’ while another fan, J, added, ‘Exactly, nominations. Always the bridesmaids, never the brides’

She also sent out a number of other tweets including one in which she referred to a Twitter user account for calling her ‘grandma’ and another in which she sent a middle finger emoji to someone who said she was 65, adding, ‘Cool U can count. How many fingers do I lift’

Warren appeared to acknowledge his argument hours later, tweeting, ‘Okay, I don’t mean to disrespect @beyonce, who I have worked with and I admire. I apologize for this misunderstanding.’

Beyonce herself has not publicly responded to any of the tweets until now.
