What happened to Abbie Cornish? Australian golden girl disappeared from radar after moving to LA

She was once Australia’s golden girl, starring in many popular films such as the critically acclaimed romantic drama Candy with Heath Ledger, Somersault, Bright Star and Limitless.

But Abbie Cornish seems to have gone off the radar in recent years after leaving Australia for the bright light of Hollywood in 2017 and attempting a jam-packed rap career under the mysterious name ‘MC Dusk’.

Abbie last appeared in American family move Dakota, a heartwarming film about a single mother and her daughter who adopt an old dog to live on their farm.

The Dakota was released to limited theaters in April this year, receiving negligible media attention and mediocre reviews.

Other recent projects include the 2021 film The Virtuoso, in which Abbie stars alongside Oscar winner Anthony Hopkins, and the Australian drama series Secret Bridesmaids Business in 2019.

Despite its star power, the crime thriller received generally unfavorable reviews and only received a 19% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Variety film critic Peter Debruge highlighted the film, writing: ‘It’s a shame to see so many talented actors wasted in such an amateur production, the title of which lends a tone of sad irony to the whole affair.’
