Russell Crowe and his girlfriend Britney Theriot are in Rome while the Oscar winner prepares to shoot his new film The Pope’s Exorcist.

And the couple visited the Pope’s chapel Sancta Sanctorum in front of cameras playing a supernatural horror film.

Crowe, 58, looked very casual in a black polo shirt and black shorts for a walk.

Based on Gabrielle Amorth’s published memoir, the film will be directed by Julius Avery, best known for the 2018 horror film Overlord.

Russell plays Father Gabrielle Amorth, a real-life character based in the Vatican and said to have performed 60,000 exorcisms.

‘It has been my goal to work with Russell,’ young Australian filmmaker Avery told The Hollywood Reporter.

‘Collaborating with him on Pope’s Exorcist was a dream come true.’

According to the publication, the film will explore Father Amorth’s life and work, with shooting expected to begin in Ireland in September.

Meanwhile, the new film adds to a long list of upcoming releases for Crowe including The Greatest Beer Run Ever and Poker Face, which he directed and also starred in.
