Stefan Dennis claims that he was once involved in a secret romance with his Neighbors co-star, Natalie Imbruglia.

The actor, 63, who plays Paul Robinson in the iconic soap, said the pair got into a relationship after sparks appeared on set.

Not only did Paul date Gayle Blakeney, 56, while he and his sister Gillian starred as the twins Alessi in the 1990s, he and Natalie also had a relationship during their time on the series, leading to his reputation among the cast as male and female.

‘Because of my relationship with Gayle and then, in secret, I also dated Natalie Imbruglia, there were rumors that I made it past the female lead,’ he told Stellar Magazine this week.

The notoriously reclusive Australian singer, 47, was married to Silverchair frontman Daniel Johns, 43, from 2003 to 2008 and has rarely commented on their breakup.

Imbruglia met the rockers at an awards show in 1999 and they married four years later, on New Year’s Eve, in a beachside ceremony in Queensland.

He opened up about their relationship and breakup in the Spotify podcast series about Johns’ troubled life last year.

He said in Who is Daniel Johns? podcast: ‘He was the love of my life and I think in time you realize it’s a really special thing and you look back on it lovingly, and it doesn’t happen often that the two of you can feel that way about each other. ..

‘It’s not something that should be repeated in that way. That’s a beautiful thing.’

The performer, best known for the 1997 global hit Torn, said: ‘It was very, very difficult; this is a tough time to talk about and, to be honest, I just remember trying… just trying to get things back on track…’
