Mercedes-AMG EQS53 2023 price and specs: $328,400 for an electric flagship

Mercedes-AMG’s first electric vehicle in Australia is the most powerful local model to date, and the most luxurious – but it comes with a hefty price tag to match.

It 2023 Mercedes-AMG EQS53 4Matic electric cars have arrived in Australia, as the most expensive AMG money can buy today – and the first four-door AMG without a fuel filler cap.

While Mercedes-Benz’s flagship EQS electric sedan can be had in various variants bearing the Benz logo overseas, it will be offered in Australia exclusively – at launch at least – in the form of the AMG EQS53, with high-end specs.

The EQS53 is the first all-electric Mercedes-AMG model to be sold in Australia; The company’s first electric vehicle (EV), the 2013 SLS Electric Drive supercar, is not offered here.



Price from $328,400 plus on-road feesThe AMG EQS53 is the most expensive AMG currently on sale (though not of all time), worth more than three A45 S hot hatchbacks – or one and a half E63 S performance sedans.

Turning on the AMG EQS53 is a pair of electric motors and 107.8kWh (usable) battery, good for output from 484kW and 900Nm in the standard model, the 0-100km/h sprint time is 3.8 seconds, and the top speed is 220km/h.

Selecting the $7690 AMG Dynamic Plus Plan unlocks the output of 560kW and 1020Nm in Race Start launch control mode – making the EQS53 AMG the most powerful car sold in Australia – for a 0-100km/h dash of 3.4 seconds and a top speed of 250km/h.



Mercedes-Benz Australia claims up to 587km electric driving distance according to Australian soft ‘ADR81/02’ testing protocol, powered by large battery and 0.23 drag coefficient.

DC fast charging of up to 200kW is available – enabling 10 to 80 percent charge in 31 minutes – while buyers can choose from a standard 11kW or optional 22kW AC built-in charger, with 10 to 100 percent charge on a home wall box at 10 hours (11kW) or five. hours (22kW).

Power supported are 415mm six-piston front and rear 378mm single-piston compound brakes (optional carbon ceramic), adaptive air suspension and rear wheel steering that can rotate up to nine degrees for less low-speed low revs. or better high-speed stability.



Standard technology features abound, led by MBUX Hyperscreen, which combines a 12.3-inch driver instrument, 17.7-inch center screen and 12.3-inch passenger display into a single 1.41-meter panel across the dashboard, running the latest Mercedes-Benz software. .

All AMG EQS vehicles in Australia come standard with an unlimited three-year subscription to the Chargefox network’s 350kW ultra-fast public charger, along with an 11kW onboard charger (a 22kW unit costs $2490).
