Meghan Markle 'used trip to Rwanda as backdrop for fashion shoot', explosive biography claims

Meghan Markle brought a ‘clothing suitcase’ and ‘insisted’ she could take a Canadian photographer with her, an explosive biography claims today.

Writing in his new book Revenge, Tom Bower details how the Duchess of Sussex, 40, was invited on a January 2016 trip by World Vision Canada to be part of a film to promote charity work building water wells in the African country.

But Bower claims Meghan flew to Rwanda first class, accompanied by fashion photographer Gabor Jurina and had her own hair and makeup artist.

Brenda Surminski, a producer who will be recording the trip, can no longer travel to Rwanda and a Canadian cameraman joins the group instead.

But Bower claims that after filming with the kids playing with the tap, Meghan ‘disappeared’ with Jurina to take photos with some of the kids.

He wrote: ‘In the end, Surminski was confused. Celebrities who use remote African villages as backdrops for fashion shoots are simply ‘amazing.’

The Duchess of Sussex has not commented on the claims in the book.

According to Bower, the relationship between the Duchess and the charity came through advertising agency KBS, after Matt Hassell, creative director at Toronto, suggested he would be ‘ideal’ to promote WVC.

She wrote that Surminski only spoke with Meghan for ’30 minutes’ before the actress agreed to promote projects to build water wells in impoverished villages.

Film producer Surminski could no longer travel to the country and instead, Meghan arrived with a team of World Vision marketing executives and a Canadian cameraman.

Bower wrote that after filming with the children playing in clean water, Meghan ‘disappeared’ with the fashion photographer.

She wrote: ‘For hours, Jurina photographed the actress with the perfect hairstyle hugging, squeezing and smiling at the country kids.’

Meanwhile she wrote Surminksi feels the Duchess is ‘on a road with a vision of something good happening at the end, but the goal is unknown.’

Jurina later posted fashion photos on her website, with Bower noting how eight months later, the photos would be ‘more valuable.’

Writing on his website The Tig at the time, he discussed his time in Rwanda where he volunteered at a refugee camp.

In an emotional part Meghan said she divides her time between Hollywood and humanitarian work.

Writing on her website she said: ‘My life shifted from refugee camp to red carpet, I chose both because this world, in fact, can coexist.’

She continued: ‘I never wanted to be a lunch woman – I always wanted to be a working woman. And it is this kind of work that feeds my soul, and drives my goals.’

He added: ‘Guiding my heart as the pendulum swings from excess to lack of access is challenging at times.’

Another bombshell from the book claims Meghan allegedly made the Duchess of Cambridge cry ahead of her back-to-back wedding to Prince Harry over a bridesmaid dress – a claim Meghan denies.

Bower wrote that Kate Middleton was ‘crying’ after Meghan ‘unfavorably compared Princess Charlotte to her best friend Jessica Mulroney’s daughter’.

The claim is the latest in a long line of disputed accounts over alleged disagreements between Meghan and Kate over bridesmaid dresses.

Speaking to Oprah Winfrey about the incident in an explosive interview last year, the Duchess of Sussex said: “She (Kate) was upset about something, but she had it, and she apologized.” And he brought me flowers.’

Appearing on Good Morning Britain to discuss her book, Bower said Meghan had warned those closest to her not to speak to her.

He said: ‘He explained to all his friends and the people who work for him not to talk to me, so it was quite a struggle but I got enough people to talk to me, more than enough, I got about 80 people. ‘

Presenter Ben Shephard asked how her story could have been an impartial account if the writer had interviewed people who didn’t like the Duchess of Sussex.

Bower replied: ‘Because I filter, I never enter things that are not correct and cannot be checked.’
