Meghan Markle called her PR team in hysterics after Buckingham Palace reacted with ‘angry’ to a Vanity Fair interview about Prince Harry, a shocking new book claims.

Tom Bower, journalist and author of ‘Revenge: Meghan, Harry and the war between the Windsors’, said Meghan was ‘excited’ when she was asked to appear on the cover of Vanity Fair’s September 2017 issue and interview the magazine.

But when the magazine ran ‘Wild About Harry’ on its cover – focusing on Meghan’s relationship with the British prince rather than her work as an actor, activist and philanthropist – Bower said the Palace were shocked.

Within hours of a pre-published copy of the magazine being sent to Buckingham Palace, Bower said Meghan called her PR firm and “hysterically” alerted them of the Palace’s outrage.

Keleigh Thomas Morgan, partner at Meghan’s PR firm Sunshine Sachs, organized the interview, which was conducted by Sam Kashner – longtime contributing editor at Vanity Fair.

According to Bower, Kashner was told Meghan is under strict orders from Harry and his PR firm to avoid sensitive subjects – such as race, Donald Trump and his relationship with the prince.

The interview was conducted at Meghan’s house. Bower said Kashner was uncomfortable knowing Meghan had been told to be careful what she said to him.

‘Both know that a lot goes on in interviews, and both understand that Harry’s critical issue has been vetoed,’ Bower says in his new book, according to The Sun newspaper. ‘Meghan spoke, she realized, knowing she had the winning ticket but avoided giving the impression of victory.’

After first discussing Meghan’s speech at the United Nations and the letter she sent to Procter & Gamble as an 11-year-old asking them to change slogans promoting cleaning fluids deemed sexist, Kashner asked her about Harry.

To Kashner’s surprise, Bower wrote, Meghan replied: ‘We’re a couple. We’re in love.’

As reported by Vanity Fair in 2017, Meghan said: ‘I’m sure there will come a time when we have to step up and present ourselves and have a story to tell but I hope what people will understand is that this is our time. .

‘This is for us. That’s part of what makes it so special, that it’s just ours. But we are happy. Personally, I love great love stories.’

A pre-publication copy of the September 2017 issue of Vanity Fair was released to Megan’s PR agencies and Buckingham Palace. His unexpected revelation about Harry took the Palace by surprise, Bower wrote.

“Like a thunderbolt, the interview sparked a sensational reaction: Meghan used her relationship with Harry to promote herself,” he said. ‘Hollywoodization of the royal family has sealed Meghan’s fate as Harry’s fiancé.’

According to Bower, within hours of the pre-publication release, Meghan called Ken Sunshine and Keleigh Thomas Morgan to tell them about the Palace ‘outrage’.

He said the agency should have deleted his comments about his relationship with Harry, raising fears he would fire them for incognito.

Ken Sunshine reportedly told Vanity Fair editors that he had to ‘deal with the Queen on this’. Ken Sunshine was told Meghan only got the cover ‘because of who she’s marrying,’ Bower wrote, and not because of her own abilities.
