Kochie supermarket confession shocks viewers: 'Hang me dry'
Sunrise viewers poked fun at co-host David ‘Kochie’ Koch after he admitted to mixing cucumber and zucchini.
Fans have been divided with some believing the jumble was “just sad”, while some empathized, saying it could be “complicated”.

Kochie and host Monique Wright were interviewing a supermarket assistant when Monique saw the perfect opportunity to point out Kochie’s mistakes.
“Did you find that people mix zucchini and cucumbers?” he asked the worker.
Monique then refers to an incident where Kochie’s wife, Libby, asked for help in the kitchen.
“And when Lib asked him to steam the zucchini, (Kochie) steamed the cucumbers.
“Is it common? Is that normal, Steve?” he asked, as an embarrassed Kochie raised his hand, admitting he made a mistake.
“I can’t say it’s too common, I’ve never come across that one before,” said the shop assistant.
Kochie added, “Good, Steve, go and hang me to dry.”
“Sorry buddy, sorry,” Steve said.
Explaining his confusion between the two greens, Kochie recalled a cute supermarket fiasco.
“I buy fruit and vegetables at my local market every Monday night,” he begins.
“I went there yesterday, they had zucchini and cucumber next to each other. I turned around and (the shop assistants) all laughed.
‘Some tricky’
“I said, ‘You did it on purpose didn’t you?’” the Sunrise host shared.
“I love them,” Monique laughed.
Kochie’s mix divided viewers, with some relating to the story while others joking it was “sad”.
“Some tricky!!!” one comment said.
“It’s not sad. I always double-check what it is by reading the signs. They look alike,” added another buyer.
Meanwhile, one commenter said, “Geez Kochie, that’s pathetic.😂😂 Definitely not a home vegetable farmer.”
“Absolutely unacceptable,” said another.
One commenter praised Monique for citing Kochie’s mistakes, writing, “Monique is a lunatic”.
Monique replaces host Natalie Barr who is recovering from COVID.
Nat is back
On Wednesday, Natalie returned to Brekky Central after contracting COVID after traveling to Perth.
Host Sunrise said Wednesday that she still has a sinus infection and feels dizzy, joking that it’s “like I’ve had some wine”.
Barr said he spoke to doctors to get things back to work, and that he wasn’t contagious.
“How do you feel?” co-host David ‘Kochie’ Koch asked as the show started at 5.30am.
“I’m fine, except I have a sinus infection and I’m a little dizzy, but other than that I’m fine,” he said.
Surprised that Barr had COVID and a sinus infection, Koch asked: “What! Sinus infection too?”
Barr replied, “Did that happen?
“But, I did telehealth with the doctor yesterday, and he said, ‘Don’t worry you’re not contagious’.”

Nat Barr returns to Sunrise.
News anchor Sally Bowrey joked: “Since you are on telehealth, to us you are (contagious).”
“No, he said, don’t worry it just happened in my head. What does he mean?” said Barr.
“Well, it’s a mystery,” answered Koch.
