Ioan Gruffudd files for joint custody of his two daughters, 8 and 12 years old

‘Fantastic Four’ actor Ioan Gruffudd has filed for joint custody of his two daughters, months after his estranged wife, Alice Evans, filed for sole custody amid a bitter divorce.

Gruffudd, 48, filed the request in Los Angeles Superior Court on Friday, seeking custody and visitation rights to see his children, Elsie, 8, and Ella, 12.

The ‘Titanic’ actor claimed in the filing that Evans deliberately tried to cut off communication between Gruffudd and the children.

He also petitioned for the girls to attend face-to-face therapy and reunification therapy via zoom with him pending court-ordered mediation on custody.

In the filing, Gruffudd repeated allegations that Evans had verbally abused them during their 14-year marriage, and “damaged[ing him] in front of girls all their lives.’

‘Alice often makes fun of my appearance, makes hair loss comments and says I have ‘saggy-vagina eyes,” the court papers filed Friday read.

He went on to claim that Evans “has inflicted serious emotional harm on Ella and Elsie by his remarks and by interfering with my relationship with them.”

Gruffudd is petitioning for the girls to attend face-to-face therapy and reunification therapy via Zoom with him pending court-ordered mediation on custody.

In a video prior to the ex-couple’s January 2021 split, which Gruffudd presented as evidence in the filing, Evans allegedly told Ella he was going to ‘get a new dad.’

“In a FaceTime I did with the girls on March 3, Ella said Alice wrongly told her that I wanted Alice to kill herself, and that Ella might not be mummified again,” Gruffudd wrote in the petition.

‘Ella told me, ‘Dad, this makes me very sad,’ and, ‘if I don’t agree with her, I seem like a bad daughter.’

Evans was married to Gruffudd for 14 years before their messy split last year and they were embroiled in a lengthy court case in which she accused him of domestic violence.

Last month, Evans admitted she was “really running out of money for food and bills” but said she was focused on being “the best mom I can be.”

In an Instagram post with one of her daughters, she wrote scathing comments about the lack of funds as the court case between her and her estranged husband continued.

She claims she will not receive financial support from Ioan and that she is struggling to pay her legal fees and will not be able to ‘feed or clothe’ their daughter.

“Trying to hold it all in while being threatened, literally running out of money for food and bills and just found out someone tried to break down our outside door last night,” he said.

‘But it’s all worth it! (And people who currently don’t want to be photographed.)

‘Whatever. Most importantly, I will be the best mother I can be. forever. They will never lose me. Thank you everyone for so much love and support! Having a bit of a tough moment!’

Evans claimed everyone around him had “let him down” and said he was facing “a place to stay” amid a legal battle.

The ‘102 Dalmatians’ star wrote: ‘I knew I was going through hell ever since my hubby decided to run off with a millennial and then accused me of harassing him and draining ALL of our communal savings on the fees of greedy lawyers who tried to silence me from telling my story.

‘But I’m now as low as I’ve ever been. Literally everyone I thought helped have let me down.

Evans claimed in June that Ioan had succeeded in extending a domestic violence restraining order (DVRO) against him, but he denied the abuse claims and insisted he was “chasing Johnny Depp-style fame.”

It has since been revealed that Ioan is seeking continuation of the restraining order against Alice.

She issued a temporary restraining order against him in February, citing a series of abusive messages she sent him as he came to terms with her exit.

In an attempt to settle matters, Gruffudd, engaged to Brad Pitt’s divorce attorney, Anne Kiley, is believed to have requested that the injunction — which requires Evans not to contact or harass her or her boyfriend — last for at least another year.

After a court hearing, Evans claimed he had been issued with a DVRO (domestic violence restraining order) which he insisted was ‘unfair.’

Gruffudd filed for divorce from Evans in March 2021, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason behind their split. He now lives with his girlfriend Bianca Wallace, 30, in Los Angeles.

The couple went official on Instagram in October, after he posted a photo of them together with the words: ‘Thanks for making me smile again.’

Gruffudd requested a restraining order against Evans in February 2022, offering 113 pages of abusive text messages, emails, and social media posts from Alice.
