Former cricketer Nathan Lyon Mel Waring debuts his new girlfriend

Mel Waring, the former partner of Australian Test cricketer Nathan Lyon, has debuted his new girlfriend, almost five years after the batsman left him for another woman.

The world of cricket was rocked by scandal in late 2017 when Lyon, 34, was seen kissing glamorous real estate agent Emma McCarthy in Perth.

Waring, who shares two children with the sportsman, later said he was ‘humiliated’ by their public breakup and felt like ‘part of me died’.

But time seems to have healed all wounds as the smitten-looking Waring, also 34, announced her new relationship with a mysterious man on April 15.

She shared a photo gallery on Instagram of herself with her new man, but did not reveal his identity.

‘The best things are worth waiting for!’ he wrote in the caption, adding a heart emoji and the hashtags #foundhim and #hardlaunch.

“So lucky these girls chose me as their mother,” she wrote at the time.

‘I also feel very special thanks to our main man for spoiling me again. How lucky we are to have you in our lives!’

Waring attended the musical with his girlfriend on Saturday night, posting a series of photos from the trip with the caption: ‘A weekend for the soul.’

She detailed their heartbreaking breakup in a blog post in March 2018, recounting the nights she would lie in bed with her children and cry.

‘I’m not asking for this, this is not the way my life should be. He is mine forever, he is my whole world,” he wrote.

‘Until the end I was 100 per cent devoted to our lives and I loved every part of him and our world. It’s like a bomb, exploding from behind.

‘I have to deal with [it] in a very public, embarrassing and confrontational way. Part of me is dead.’

Lyon, playing their 100th Test match in January 2021, reportedly proposed to McCarthy last year. The couple has not confirmed the engagement
