Ethan Hawke proudly walks with his daughter Maya to a special screening of The Last Movie Stars

Ethan Hawke has gone into promo mode for his latest project: the new HBO Max documentary The Last Movie Stars.

The acclaimed actor donned a director’s hat to help tell the story of the decades-long romance and partnership between Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward.

And on Sunday he arrived with his daughter Maya Hawke in his arms for a special screening at the Film Forum, a nonprofit cinema in the Downtown Greenwich Village neighborhood.

Ethan, 51, arrives at the cinema with his daughter Maya Hawke, who is a rising star in the acting field.

In a sweet gesture, the couple can be seen holding hands as they walk along the last block or two of the bustling streets.

Beaming with pride, the four-time Oscar-nominated actor flashed a big smile as he wore a gray suit and white shirt, which he wore buttonless at the top and no tie.

He also wore a pair of black sneakers and had his short hair slicked back from his face, while sporting a well-groomed beard.

Maya, 24, looked equally proud to be in her father’s arms wearing a navy blue denim ensemble consisting of capri-style jeans that fell around her ankles.

The outfit also includes a matching denim jacket, which she wears over a red and white patterned sweater with a v-neck, and a backpack on her left shoulder.

She completes her overall look by wearing a pair of black leather boots, and her blonde hair is styled past her shoulders in a warm dose of volume and part in the middle.

By the time the father-daughter duo made it to the theater front they would soon be separated, with Ethan apparently being whisked away to do some media commitments.

Maya, whose mother is actress Uma Thurman, was seen being ushered through a line of people who had gathered outside the cinema.

With The Last Movie Stars, the Realty Bites star recounts Newman and Woodward’s relationship through a series of previously unpublished conversations.

The interview was originally meant for Newman’s memoir, a project that was eventually scrapped and eventually shelved, according to Indie Wire.

Newman would go on to destroy recordings of their conversation, but transcripts were saved and used to tell their story in a documentary using some of the biggest stars then and now.

Along with Newman and Woodward, themselves, the cast features the likes of Martin Scorsese, Sally Field, Melanie Griffith, Sydney Pollack, Sidney Lumet, Karl Malden, Elia Kazan, Gore Vidal and Jacqueline Witte, among others.

Breaking the mold on Hollywood’s relationship, Newman and Woodward’s union resulted in them working side by side on a number of films and projects, all while married for more than 50 years.

Their last screen appearance together was in the cable miniseries Empire Falls in 2005.

Newman died in September 2008 at the age of 83, while Woodward is still developing at the age of 92.

The Last Movie Stars begins streaming on HBO Max on Thursday, July 21.
