The event’s Instagram announced the news by posting a picture of the actress, dressed in character, posing by the beach.

Smiling Godwin, 28, wears a blue floral one-piece swimsuit and holds a surfboard.

“As the doctor ordered! Bree, our new doctor, will soon be making waves in Summer Bay!” read the caption.

“So happy to be here! Thank you for having me,” Godwin replied.

The Zimbabwean-born actress will premiere on Channels 7 and 7plus in August when the show returns after the Commonwealth Games.

Meanwhile, on her own Instagram, the actress said: “So excited to introduce Dr Bree and share what I’ve been doing for the past 5 months! Thank you for accepting me @homeandaway.”

Fans reacted to the news online, commenting that “he’s going to cause trouble”, while others joked, “I think I have a fever”.

Along with Godwin, four other actors were recently confirmed to join Home and Go cast.

Rob Mallet, Angelina Thomson, Adam Rowland and Stephanie Panozzo were introduced to the show earlier this month, as members of a band called Lyrik.

Their arrival comes after the departure of big names Sam Frost, Luke Radovich, Harley Bonner and Courtney Miller.

Frost first appeared as Jasmine Delaney in the hit soap in 2017.

In December, his departure was announced as permanent.

Fans are assuming the doctor Godwin character replaces Bonner, who left the soap opera earlier this year after playing Dr Logan Bennett for 84 episodes in 2021 and 2022.

At the soap’s Instagram announcement of Godwin’s arrival at the bay, fans couldn’t help but talk about the former doctor in town, Logan.

“Wishing Logan back,” said one comment.

“Wait, so Logan didn’t come back?” another asked.

Home and Away is back

Earlier this month, the cast was spotted filming in the NSW city of Young.

Home and Go usually filmed in Sydney’s Palm Beach, otherwise known as Summer Bay, with indoor scenes shot in a studio in the deep west.

Actress Emily Symons, 52, who plays Marilyn Chambers, has teased fans by sharing an Instagram story of herself walking around in a pink dress and high heels.

She captioned the photo: “Maz went to the country,” along with a cherry emoji.

Ada Nicodemou, 45, who plays Leah Patterson, is the next cast to tip fans off.

Nicodemou has posted four photos on Instagram with co-stars Ray Meagher (who plays Alf Stewart), Georgie Parker (Roo Stewart) and Lynne McGranger (Irene Roberts).

He captioned one photo, “It was nice to go shooting together”, and the second, “Off the set something really interesting”.

A Channel 7 spokesperson has confirmed filming is taking place at Young.
