NRL Fantasy team analysis: Chapter 19

After an 18th round full of missing big names and late draws, this week has been made easier thanks to the return of some Fantasy guns and more certainty around the final line-up of most squads.

NRL Fantasy team analysis: Chapter 19

Eels v Broncos, Thursday at CommBank Stadium

eel: Parramatta believes Ryan Matterson, who was named in lock, will play this week following his layoff with a rib injury. Winger Maika Sivo came out on a score of 48 and 53 and at $486k is pretty affordable.

Broncos: Payne Haas is back after a few weeks off due to a shoulder problem. The fast returns are good news for those who hold them, but if you don’t have them, their value won’t increase much this week. Origin stars Patrick Carrigan and Kurt Capewell are also back, meaning high-scoring rookie Zac Hosking is back in the extended reserves. Tesi Niu is likely to retain the fullback position, with Te Maire Martin again named as a substitute.

Dragons v Sea Eagles, Friday at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium

Albatross: Jake Trbojevic is out which means Toafofoa Sipley ($409k) gets a start in the locks. Winger Jason Saab scored 66 last week, while captain Daly Cherry-Evans has not scored under 70 in his last three games.

Dragon: Jack Bird, who averaged touching under 40 this year and is listed as CTR in Fantasy, replaced Jack de Belin, with the latter moving to prop. Moses Mbye ($225k) was named in the middle of replacing the injured Moses Suli.

Knights v Roosters, Friday at McDonald Jones Stadium

Knight: Jayden Brailey started again and last week played the full 80, but still only scored 37 and now has a break even of 72. Mitch Barnett ($626k) was again named to start the game with Kurt Mann on the bench.

Rooster: Owner Joseph Manu’s dream looks set to come to an end, with the Kiwis moving back into center to make way for the return of Luke Keary, after he became Fantasy’s top scorer last week with 103. While he won’t match those numbers at center, if you have him, he’s still a good choice. Nat Butcher started in the second row but recorded a disappointing 21 points in his 51-minute stint last week.

Raiders v Warriors, Saturday at GIO Stadium

Robber: Albert Hopoate ($221k) got a starter on the wing for the suspended Jordan Rapana, while captain Elliott Whitehead is back with Nick Cotric after missing last week through injury.

Soldier: This is bad news for those who traded rookie Ronald Volkman thinking he might be a cash cow, with Daejarn Asi appointed to start ahead of him in part two. Reece Walsh hit the bench with Chanel Harris-Tavita ($293k) preferred as fullback.

Panthers v Sharks, Saturday at BlueBet Stadium

black Panther: The full Origin contingent is back in what will be a huge boost for Fantasy owners, especially in the case of central midfielder Nathan Cleary who is owned by 35 percent of all teams and is a popular captain’s choice. While he’s back on the bench, hooker Mitch Kenny still has to make some money in the next few weeks, with a score of 53 last week leaving him with a break of 12.

Shark: Briton Nikora ($593k) came back from suspension to start in the second row, bumping early season cheesy Teig Wilton back onto the bench after he scored 53 points last week. Center Jesse Ramien has averaged 58.7 over his last three games and is a real point of difference that only 1.3 percent of Fantasy coaches have.

Rabbitohs v Storm, Saturday at Accor Stadium

Rabbit: Damien Cook and Cameron Murray’s fantasy guns are back after going missing last week. There’s good news for those jumping on Jed Cartwright as well, with the back rower likely to get a few more price hikes after retaining his place in the team, albeit at the center where his scoreline is likely to drop.

Storm: Nick Meaney ($561k) landed a fullback role following Ryan Papenhuyzen’s season-ending injury, and scored the last 60 goals. Cheapie Tyran Wishart ($223k) got his first chance at the vacant wing position. With no recognized prostitute on the bench, Harry Grant could be set to play the full 80 minutes away.

Bulldogs v Titans, Sunday at CommBank Stadium

Bulldogs: A huge relief for those who picked up Declan Casey ($229k), with the center set to retain his place ahead of listed substitute Aaron Schoupp. There’s still no sign of Luke Thompson, though the England forward is barely on any team at the moment.

Titans: Rookie winger Sosefo Fifita has kept his place after bagging 50 goals on his debut last week. At $255k and at a break-even of -5, it’s a popular cash-down option this week that can bring in quite a bit of cash before the end of the season. Aaron Booth is back on the hooker with Erin Clark ($572k), who has his best score of the year (76) after coming off late in the locks last week, on the interchange. The good news for owner Jayden Campbell is that he is back, the bad news is out of exchange rather than at full-back.

Cowboys v Tigers, Sunday at Queensland Country Bank Stadium

cowboy: Jeremiah Nanai’s rookie sensation is back after being rested last week. Averaging 44.2 points throughout the year, he has rewarded owners who resisted the urge to cash in at the start of the year. Murray Taulagi ($605k) returns from COVID, while Tom Dearden ($474k) returns half.

Tiger: Jackson Hastings is again touted and at $533k could be one of the bargains of the year if he can keep anything close to last week’s effort of 73 points. The return of Brent Naden sees Junior Tupou’s potential cash cow out of the squad. Justin Matamua looks like a non-event in Fantasy after being relegated to the reserves following his scoring 11 weeks ago.
