Hyundai Australia has rejigged it 2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5 electric cars range, with lower starting prices for the base model, and new features for both classes.

The Ioniq 5 range of two older models with the same features has been replaced with two repositioned variants: the base, rear-wheel drive Ioniq 5 Dynamiq, the emblem of Hyundai Australia, and all-wheel drive (AWD), the flagship of the Ioniq 5 Teknik.

New rear drive only dynamic This variant is now proposed as an entry-level model, offering fewer features than the previous RWD model, priced at $2000 less, at $69,900 plus on-road costs.

Meanwhile, all-wheel drive Technique is the flagship of the range, the price of $77,500 plus on-road fees – $1600 more than before. Fixed prices and online sales are maintained for both models – which are still branded as 2022 vehicles.

Offsetting the price increase are the additions in various augmented-reality (AR) heads-up displays – which ‘project’ navigation arrows onto the road ahead – and a second vehicle-to-load (V2L) port, allowing the battery car to power electric devices. external.

However, ‘Vision Roof’ glass has been cut from the list of standard equipment of both models – and is now a $1500 option, available exclusively at Techniq.

While Australia is getting a head-up AR display and a second V2L port (in-cab, joined by one outside, both offering 3.6kW) offered overseas, our market is missing out on the long-range 77.4kWh battery available elsewhere, along with battery based camera. next to ‘mirror’.

The driving range has been increased for the updated range, in the form of 19-inch alloy wheels and Michelin Primacy 4 tires for the entry-level Dynamiq – replacing the 20-inch alloy wheels and Michelin Pilot Sport EV rubber – increasing the WLTP range from 451km to 481km.

The entry-level Dynamiq power is a built-in 72.6kWh battery pack and a 160kW/350Nm electric motor on the rear axle, good for a 0-100km/h time of 7.4 seconds, and the aforementioned claimed 481km driving range.

Meanwhile, Techniq paired the same battery with a 155kW rear electric motor and a 70kW front electric motor, producing a combination of 225kW and 605Nm, for a 0-100kmh/h time of 5.2 seconds, and a claimed WLTP driving range of 430km.

The Ioniq 5 is capable of fast charging of 800 volts and 350kW DC, good for a claimed 10 to 80 percent recharge in 18 minutes, under optimal conditions.
